Delegates of world convention coming to Grey Bruce. Abbeyfield international is holding its world convention in Toronto October 2008. One of the features of the convention is, the delegates will be touring Grey Bruce.
Abbeyfield's Life Lease facitlity in Grey Bruce has been chosen to showcase Canada's contribution to a "better way of living" for our senoirs.

Abbeyfield Houses Society of Grey Bruce

ABBEYFIELD HOUSES SOCIETY of GREY BRUCE, a non profit resource group, grew from the experience and knowledge gained in the development of the first Life Lease Abbeyfield home in Grey Bruce as well as the collective knowledge gained from over 50 years of providing affordable housing for seniors around the world.

Abbeyfield Grey Bruce Inc is available to assist volunteers and communities develop low cost seniors housing, providing care and companionship to Seniors within their own community.

What are Abbeyfield Houses?

Abbeyfield Houses are residences which provide good food, comfort, security and independence to seniors who, though relatively fit, no longer wish to or are unable to live at home.
It could be compared to living like a large family, with a live-in House Mother who takes care of the running of the house.

Who and how did Abbeyfield begin?

Abbeyfield was started over 50 years ago in London, England to house the poor and lonely.
Today, there are over 800 Abbeyfield Houses around the world, with more coming on stream every month.
Abbeyfield today is the largest provider of sheltered housing in the Voluntary field.
With over 800 houses, 13,000 volunteers and over 9000 residents worldwide.
You can have an Abbeyfield in your town or village at no cost to the community or the proponents.
